September: Desmos, Not Just for Math!

In the past few years, numerous math teachers have become acquainted with Desmos. Desmos Studio is a Public Benefit Corporation, driven by the goal of helping everyone learn math, love math, and grow with math. Through its diverse range of interactive features, Desmos effectively engages students in the learning process. However, there's an aspect that many educators may not be aware of—Desmos is not limited to math alone; it can be seamlessly integrated into various types of lessons.

In the upcoming professional development session, we extend an invitation to explore Desmos' interactive features and to grasp the art of applying these features to any lesson. Regardless of grade level or subject matter, Desmos provides a wealth of interactive and captivating activities for students. As participants delve into this experience, they'll encounter a valuable array of ideas, all centered around this freely accessible online tool.

December: Winning the Cell Phone Challenge: Transforming Distraction into Interaction

Do you often feel like you are losing the cell phone battle in your classroom? Outside of the classroom, most people use various types of mobile devices to make life much easier, and December 17th is a day set aside to celebrate these devices and how important they are in our daily lives. In our upcoming professional development session, we will explore innovative ways to turn the tide and transform cell phones from classroom distractions into valuable tools that align with lessons. We will discuss strategies such as implementing educational apps, encouraging responsible digital citizenship, integrating interactive learning platforms, and using mobile devices for collaborative projects. The session is aimed at empowering teachers to harness the educational potential of cell phones, fostering a positive and productive learning environment.
